Austroads Guide To Road Design Part 2

Webinar: Austroads Guide to Road Design Part 3: Geometric Design. In October 2016 Austroads delivered a two-part webinar providing an overview of the updated Guide to Road Design Part 3: Geometric Design. The first session covers design objectives, speeds and cross sections.

Guide to Road Design Part 3: Geometric Design (2016 Edition) or to Download free PDF Publication no: AGRD03-16 Pages: 374 Published: 28 September 2016 Guide to Road Design Part 3: Geometric Design provides road designers and other practitioners with information about the geometric design of road alignments. Design parameters include: road classification; design speeds; design vehicles; alignment controls; cross-section components, including travel lanes, shoulders and verges; and provisions for public transport and cyclists.

Speed parameters include: operating speed, desired speed and design speed; and their relationship with each other. Horizontal and vertical alignments include development and application of: circular curves; superelevation; grades; vertical curves; procedures for the grading of a road alignment; and determination of sight distances across vertical curves. Webinar: Austroads Guide to Road Design Part 3: Geometric Design In October 2016 Austroads delivered a two-part webinar providing an overview of the updated Guide to Road Design Part 3: Geometric Design. The first session covers design objectives, speeds and cross sections. The second session covers horizontal and vertical alignment, and superelevation.

The recordings are below. PDFs of the presentation can also be downloaded: 1.3 MB PDF  1.8 MB PDF The webinars are presented by Peter Aumann, Principal Research Engineer, ARRB Group. Peter specialises in road design with a cross over in traffic management and road safety. He has played a pivotal role in the 2016 update of the Guide. This third edition of the Guide contains minor editorial and technical changes throughout. Key new information and updates are:.

Guide to Road Design Part 2: Design Considerations or to Download free PDF Publication no: AGRD02-15 Pages: 48 Published: 23 September 2015 Guide to Road Design Part 2 provides a detailed description of the three critical aspects of road design: the design objectives that apply to a road design project; context-sensitive design; and the factors that influence the road design, including road design in the context of the Safe System philosophy. Guidance is provided to practitioners on the range of influences, information, data, criteria and other considerations that may have to be assessed in developing a road project. The Guide also describes the basis of the guidelines and the context in which they should be applied. It also provides links to other Austroads Guides and the resources that give further guidance on design inputs. Changes contained in this second edition of the Guide include updates that discuss how the Safe System approach can be incorporated into the road design process.

Updates to references and cross-references to other Austroads Guides have also been made, along with changes to the commentaries section. Table of Contents 1.
