Atk 605 Service Manual

Hello everyone: I just picked up a mint cond 94 ATK 605 ES from a fellow inmate. He had oil & filter change, valves adjusted, spark plug, and new cam belt about 300 miles ago. Service date was in summer of 2015 or a bit earlier. I read in ATK manual to change oil every 1000 miles and filter every 5000 miles. Cam belt change is recommended by some ATK enthusiasts every year.

My question is I plan on just putting around local fire trails this winter/spring in Palmdale CA area, really a newbie in the dirt. Your thoughts on riding bike as is? I am pretty anal about my bikes and maintenance. Rotax motor requires the complete exhaust to be taken off to access the oil filter!

Thanks a lot for any advice.

Hi, David if your headlight is not working, intermittent, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your headlight bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are: 1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration. Worn, chafed, or broken wires in the light circuit.

Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors. Faulty hi/low beam switch. Faulty ignition switch. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides. Faulty headlight relay. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.

Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil 11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper 'LOAD' test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at 'BOTH' ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, 'INSIDE' and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.

Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.

Faulty pulse coil. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor. Faulty ignition switch. Faulty run/off switch 11.

Tilt sensor needs a reset. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset For more information about your issue and valuable 'FREE' downloads that you will need for viewing or printing please click on the blue links below. It depends on what you plan on using your metal beams for and how important a durable finish is to you. Paint is solvent-based and, as such, it tends to fade or crack over time.

This is especially true when the paint is exposed to harsh weather conditions such as heavy rain or bright sunlight. Of course, paint is relatively cheap compared to powder coating so this may not be a big concern as you can always repaint it.

Powder coating, on the other hand, is extremely durable and weather-resistant. It's also less hazardous to human health as it's free of VOC and solvents. The method for applying powder coating also creates a very uniform finish which some people consider to be more aesthetically pleasing than paint, which can be messy if applied badly. Ultimately, it depends on what your priorities are. Personally, I'd recommend using powder coating for metal beams, especially if they're outside and going to be exposed to the weather.

Paint is best saved for finishing wood. I hired - a company which provide powder coating in Cornwall, South West England - to apply powder coating to the metal beams I used to construct my extension. It looks great, and the horrible weather in these parts doesn't seem to have damaged it at all! 24 views 0 helpful votes.
